Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education is excited to bring you this LACUE Cares professional development opportunity that is sure to further enhance your edtech knowledge and skills.

Session One

1st Sessions – 4:00 PM to 4:50 PM

Title: #DigCit: We’re All Citizens in a Digital World!
Presenter: Whitney Sutherland
Description: If you use technology for teaching and learning, this session is for you! Digital Citizenship (#DigCit) was once an afterthought but became an increasingly important topic when we began wide-scale virtual instruction last year. Whether you teach in K-12 or higher education, it is vital that you understand how to protect yourself and your students online. In this session, we will discuss digital footprints and privacy, strategies to foster positive virtual interactions, further professional development opportunities, and free resources for parents and students.

Presenter: Dr. Kim Kimbell-Lopez
Description: You don’t have to be tech savvy to use animation in your classroom. In this training you will learn more about simple stop motion animation tools you can use to support student learning in your classroom. 

TitleWhat’s the Hype About HyperDoc?
Presenter: Lisa Flanders-Dick
Description: What’s the Hype About HyperDocs? Have you heard of this term but never really knew what it meant? Maybe this is even the first time you have heard of it! In this session, we will explore the wonderful world of HyperDocs and how they can be integrated in a variety  of ways from traditional, blended, or online classrooms to professional developments. We will walk through how to create a HyperDoc and valuable free resources you can use today to get started.

TitleEngaging Virtual Students in Meaningful Math Discussion
Presenters: Dr. Lynne Stratton, professor; Anna Kate Tollett, math practicum student; Amy Claire Rabinowitz, Bossier Parish mentor teacher
Description: This session will focus on the partnership between the university and the virtual classroom teacher at Bossier Parish School District. We will share ideas and methods we have used to enhance our attempt at engaging remote learners in meaningful math discussion using technologies like Google Slides, Nearpod, and Jamboard. Resources will be shared.

TitleSpicing Up Your Google Slides
Presenter: Miranda Allen
Description: Could you use a few tips and tricks to jazz up your Google Slides presentations? Whether you are new to this edtech tool or have been using it a while, you are sure to gain some new ideas and online resources that can help strengthen your skills and add a new level of engagement and excitement to your presentations. In this session, we will look at the latest websites with free presentation templates to cut down on your time trying to create cute slides. We will also review helpful features to use in Google Slides, explore popular Add-Ons for the platform, and view some of my favorite Chrome Extensions.

Presenters: Dr. Kim Kimbell-Lopez, Lisa Flanders-Dick, Whitney Sutherland
Description: It is time for an old fashion technology smackdown! Join this session to hear about cool new tools you can use today! Do you have a favorite edtech tool? We would love for you to share it! This session will be a fun and fast-paced way to share your favorite tech tips, tools, and resources. Participants in this session are encouraged to share and participate so everyone can gain new knowledge and information!
